Halo 4
Halo 4 is finally here, the first Halo game developed by 343 Industries since Bungie and Microsoft parted ways. Many fans were worried that 343 Industries was not up to the task in taking on this huge project; however, as of now, Halo is no longer a Bungie game because this new title is the best in the franchise.
The Halo 4 story centers on the Master Chief and his trusty AI, Cortana who are tasked with the difficult job of taking down a new and dangerous threat to the human race and the whole universe. The game is an emotional rollercoaster for the Master Chief, as he is forced to watch Cortana slowly lose control. However, despite Cortana's many problems, the duo manage to adapt to the situation and continue on their journey for the sake of humanity.
What 343 Industries has created is not too different compared to other Halo games. However, it would have been preferable if the developer didn't play it safe and tried placing a huge mark on Halo 4 and the franchise on a whole.
Story
Halo 4 takes place four years after the events of Halo 3 in the year 2557. For the first time since 2007, the Master Chief is a playable character in a Halo game, which is refreshing and exciting for fans of the series.
Both Cortana and the Master Chief find themselves on a Forerunner planet called Requiem where they must confront the Didact, a powerful Forerunner. The Didact seeks the Composer to convert humans into AI so he could give power to Prometheans loyal to him. It's a grueling battle, both the Didact and the Master Chief are hell bent on finding and acquiring the Composer first, which is not an easy task.
If players watched the Halo 4 Forward Unto Dawn web series, one of the new characters in Halo 4 would have been easily recognizable. This character is executive officer, Thomas Laskey, the leading man in the Halo 4 web series that has now ended.
Gameplay
Halo 4's gameplay isn't much different from previous Halo games, it just feels more solid and mature. All weapons in the game now have more oomph when they are fired, and weapons feel truly powerful when enemies are taking a beating. Enemies here are smart, squads will work together and adjust their tactics as players make way with their assault.
Many spaces are available for maneuver in Halo 4, which gives players enough room to take on a huge amount of enemy forces.
Going up against the Covenant should be a familiar affair, still difficult but if one is a long-time Halo player it should be a bit easier. However, things get out of control when Promethean enemies appear, these bad boys are tougher and more aggressive than the Covenant. Fighting these Promethean enemy is what makes Halo 4 singleplayer combat shine, it works and feels impressive like never before.
Those who prefer co-op over singleplayer will be all smiles since the whole campaign can be played with a friend. Makes taking on large amount of enemies easier; however, it does not take away the sense of difficulty.
Multiplayer
Halo 4's singleplayer has always been fun, but what truly makes a great Halo game is its online multiplayer. This time around, there is a greater diversity in competitive multiplayer combat, 343 Industries did a great job putting their mark on the title, which makes for the best Halo multiplayer ever. Halo 4 has plenty of content available and gamers will be so excited that they may not know where to begin.
First off, Halo 4 brings to the fore a new mode called Spartan Ops. What is it? Spartan Ops are free downloadable episodes that gamers are able to play online either by themselves, or with up to 3 other Spartans. 343 Industries plans an episode every week for 10 weeks, but the developer didn't mention if after 10 weeks gamers should expect more of these or it is the end.
Jumping into competitive multiplayer feels similar to other Halo games, but there are some changes as one would expect. War Games is back, the most popular multiplayer mode in Halo, along with the classic free-for-all and team deathmatch. Infection has been renamed the Flood, and gone are the days of going up against zombies for this time around, it's Flood-mutated humans with sword-like arms and Usain Bolt-like speeds, probably faster.
Weapons that fall on the battlefield are clearly marked, furthermore, Halo 4 has a similar system to Call of Duty. Players who are doing well in a match have the option to call in their own weapon drop while the match progresses. Don't get it twisted, it may be similar to Call of Duty's care package, but it feels nothing like it.
Conclusion
Halo 4 is arguably the best game in the franchise. 343 Industries has taken Bungie's baby ad made it theirs and that can only mean good things for future installments in the new trilogy. From the Master Chief and Cortana's emotional relationship, to the impressive competitive multiplayer, Halo 4 could end up grabbing the game of the year awards for 2012.

Hewlett-Packard (HP) has recently suffered a huge loss of $8.9 billion in its annual profit. Manufacturing of computer for which the company was known are not faring well in sales and have received less than satisfactory reviews. Customers are also switching on to other brands. In order to revive back its profit-making, HP has recently announced that it will be cutting off a few of its PC models by 25% over the course of the next two years.
Around 30% of its printer models will also be reduced. Due to such negative news, HP has been losing points on the stock market too. There were rumors that HP will be selling out all of its PC business, however, for some reason, it has decided to stick to it. Some experts believe that even concentrating on developing smartphones and tablets has also been a wrong decision on part of the company. But, for the insiders in HP, producing better tablets in design will help it turn around its business.
Till the next year, HP announced that there will be no smartphone lines from it. However, HP did announced plans to do something about producing newer smartphones because it does not want to miss out on a huge number of customers interested in this technology. Also, because they have become the latest computing devises. Some days, PCs and laptops will be part of the technology museums and if HP wants to continue far into the future, it must switch gear in its manufacturing lines.
Right now, HP offers all-in-One PCs, laptops, hybrid PCs, tablets and smartphones. What HP fears is the tough competition that it faces from brands like Apple, which has successful line of tablets and smartphones. Besides, Samsung is also faring well in the smartphone business. Hence, for HP to start into such devices right now is not possible. Before it could do this, it requires getting back to business on other products it offers. If all else fails, HP’s analysts that it has its server, network and storage business to rely on to carry further.

New Jailbreak iPhone 4S, 4/3GS iOS 6 Released : Factory Unlock: AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint

According to Chip Jailbreak Group, Sap Shield V1.7 is ready to jailbreak iPhone 4S/4, iPhone 5 iOS 6 and factory unlock iPhone 5, iPhone 4S/4/3GS iOS6/5.1.1.

The U.S. iDevice owners can jailbreak and unlock their devices using this great tool available for download at Chip Jailbreak Group official website : www.UnlockOrJailbreak.com

New legislation in the U.S. regarding jailbreak and unlock for iPhone 5/4S/4 brings good news for iDevice owners. According to this new legislation it is now legal to unlock and jailbreak iPhone 4S/4 , iPhone 5.

The U.S. Copyright Office, an organization established within the Library of Congress, spoke about the exceptions to the DMCA (Digital Millenium Copyright Act). As of yesterday, Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, and until 2015, customers can legally jailbreak and unlock any iPhone 5, iPhone 4S/4 and older 3Gs models running current iOS 6, 5.1.1 or lower.

Right after the U.S. Copyright Office announced the new legislation Chip Jailbreak Group has launched Sap Shield V1.7 untethered software for iOS 6 that has been proven successful for iOS 6 jailbreak and unlock on iPhone 4S/4, iPhone 5 and older 3GS model for any network and baseband version.

Sap Shield V1.7 jailbreak and unlock software is only possible to perform on smartphones and it not working for any tablet. This means, for example, it is legal to jailbreak a smartphone, but on board the installed software can not be obtained in violation of applicable laws and jailbreak any iPad .

U.S. users of the iPhone 5 can now perform an untethered jailbreak and permanent factory unlock procedure using Sap Shield V1.7 without the risk of losing the guarantee, and if iPhone 5 was purchased by the end of 2012, you can also proceed to unlock the phone in order to use iPhone 5 in a nano-SIM of another operator.

From 1 January 2013, the unlock will be accomplished only with the consent of the telephone from which it was purchased. Illegal, however, is the execution of the jailbreak on iPad, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4 or shortly the new iPad mini.

Users of iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS upgraded to iOS 6 can not take advantage of some of the features and innovations introduced by Apple in the most recent iteration of the mobile operating system. It is now possible to use the navigation function held in place by Apple Maps and maps view in 3D (Flyover).

Still there is bad news for iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS devices that do not officially support the intelligent assistant Siri. The hacker community that has always worked to develop solutions to jailbreak the iOS devices is still at work on this front, so that users of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS take advantage of this great future in the near future.

Laptops and backup chargers are just two ways to keep your mobile phone viable during power outages.
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
  • As Sandy bears down, be mindful of charging your mobile devices
  • Fully charged laptops can be backup power sources
  • Battery- or solar-powered chargers will keep you going in a pinch
  • Turn off Wi-Fi and background apps to extend smartphone battery life
In our increasingly digital world, a mobile phone or other portable device is often a one-stop communication device. Phone calls, text messages, social media and even radio and television can all come from the same gadget.
And when the power goes out, these gadgets can quickly become stylish but useless bricks.
As Hurricane Sandy pummels the East Coast, now is the time to be juicing up the mobile devices you use to stay connected. Also, don't forget about backup devices like that BlackBerry you got from work, tablets and even e-readers that have Web access.
But when the lights go out, you're on your own. Here are some tools and tips to try to keep you connected longer.
If you have time to grab some gear now:
Battery charger
A backup charger for your phone or tablet can can keep you linked in longer.
"Juice packs" can be bought for $100 or less (Mophie, for one, makes them for Apple and Android devices) and many of the chargers double as protective cases for your smartphone or tablet. Alternately, battery-powered backup chargers like the Zagg Sparq can provide several full charges for your mobile devices after the usual electrical options are gone.
You can even find chargers that use solar power. So as long as you've got a dry spot and at least a brief break from the rain, Mother Nature can help bail you out.
And don't forget about your car charger, assuming you have one. Your car's battery will be solid long after you're phone's isn't.
Power inverter
If you need to power up something a little bigger than a phone, a power inverter might be a useful tool. If you want to be able to use a laptop or desktop computer during an outage, this may be the way to go.
The inverter can be used to convert DC power from your car battery into AC juice for things usually plugged into a wall outlet.
Places like Batteries Plus, as well as most computer stores, usually have these around in a wide range of power. Ask an employee how much of a charge you need for what you want to do.
Here are some other tips if you don't have the option of buying new chargers:
Laptop as back-up generator
This one seems obvious ... once you've thought about it. But it's the sort of thing that can slip your mind when there's a lot of other preparation to be done.
While there's time, fully charge your laptop (or, best case, laptops).
Then don't use it. When other power sources go out, you can plug your phone or tablet into the laptop, via the USB port, for the extra juice.
Stop running apps
Check your phone's settings. Some apps quietly run in the background even when you're not using them, causing your battery to drain faster. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are two examples, but there are plenty of others. Here's a video for how to disable Wi-Fi on an iPhone and a walkthrough for how to control battery usage on Android devices. (Hat tip to Quartz.com).
Also, texting burns less power than a phone call, so go that route when you can. And turning down your screen's brightness will also help conserve juice.
Use a battery-life app
Several free apps for both iOS (Apple) and Android devices promise to help you extend your phone's battery life. One such app is Carat, which observes how you use your smartphone and makes personalized suggestions about which power-sucking apps you might delete.

clip image0024 Apple likely to Unveil iPad Mini on October 23rd
Apple is expected to unveil its highly rumored and much awaited iPad mini at a special press event on October 23, reported tech blog, All things Digital.
This iPad mini or whatever its official name will be is expected to have a 7.85 inch liquid crystal display along with Apple’s new Lightening connector carrying a thinner design than its predecessor. Further, it is also speculated that the connectivity option would be Wi-fi only.
It is interesting to note that this iPad min launch would be just three days ahead of Microsoft taking the wraps off its new Windows 8 software and Surface tablet and two days before Apple’s quarterly earnings announcement.
Reports also hinted that it will be going head-to-head with Google’s Nexus 7 and Amazon’s Kindle Fire due to their notable cheaper prices and features than more powerful devices like Apple’s new iPad.
Although, pricing would be a big question for this device but it is believed that iPad mini will be substantially cheaper than new iPad. The iPad mini is likely to be available in stores within a few weeks of unveiling and the company is reportedly manufacturing up to ten millions of smaller iPad for fourth quarter.

McLaren P1

What was once the world's fastest road car has gained a spiritual successor in the McLaren P1.

Twenty years after McLaren first entered the supercar ranks with the mighty 461kW 6.1-litre V12-powered F1, the British Formula One team, originally founded by New Zealand's Bruce McLaren, has revealed the P1.

To be officially unveiled at the 2012 Paris motor show later this month, the flamboyant new P1, as the new range topping McLaren supercar is currently known, is planned to crown the British car maker's line-up when it is launched in 2013, joining the MP4-12C and MP4-12C Roadster in a three strong line-up of road cars aimed at netting McLaren up to 4000 sales worldwide by the middle of the decade.

McLaren, which aims to challenge the likes of Bugatti, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche as a maker of the world's most sought after supercars on the back of an illustrious history in Formula One racing, says the P1 has but one goal: "To be the best driver's car in the world on road and track".

The McLaren P1 is expected to sell for about 800,000 pounds worldwide which converts to NZ$1.57 million on today's exchange rate.

Suggestions are, however, that the car will only be built in left-hand-drive, which means a special import permit would be required to get it on our roads.

Rumours suggest the new two seater, whose P1 working title is expected to give way to a definitive production name carrying the famed MP4 designation used on all of McLaren's Formula One cars since 1981, has already established lofty new road car lap records at various circuits where it has undergone preliminary testing, including Britain's revered Silverstone track.
But with a good deal of development work still to be completed, company officials say it will be over a year before independent testers get a chance can to verify these claims.

Official details pertaining to the P1's mechanical package remain scarce ahead of its Paris debut.
However, sources close to McLaren suggest it will pack up to 720kW with the help of a Formula One style kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) using pair of flywheels mated to a modified version of the twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 engine used by the MP4-12C.

In standard road going mode the hi-tech petrol-electric driveline is said to push out some 600kW at a dizzying 9100rpm.
This will be boosted by a further 120kW in track mode though the addition of KERS, which is likely to be activated via a steering wheel mounted switch. The engine, developed in co-operation with Ricardo which will also produce it at a plant in Shoreham, England, is mounted longitudinally in a low position behind the two-seat cabin, with drive sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed double clutch gearbox.

Yet despite the new McLaren P1's high power output, a reported curb weight of less than 1300kg and what these first official pictures portray as a race grade active aerodynamic package that includes a giant rear wing that appears to be retracted into the rear bodywork, McLaren is keen to ensure the P1 is not measured on its top speed alone, suggesting it should not be compared to the current holder of the world's fastest car title, the Bugatti EB16.4 Veyron SuperSport.

"Our aim is not necessarily to be the fastest in absolute top speed but to be the quickest and most rewarding series production road car on a circuit", says McLaren managing director, Antony Sheriff.

"It is the true test of a supercar's all round ability and a much more important technical statement. It will be the most exciting, most capable, most technologically advanced and most dynamically accomplished supercar ever made."

Sporting a highly contemporary design penned by Frank Stephenson, formerly with Mini, Ferrari and Alfa Romeo, the P1 is far more individual in appearance than the MP4-12C. Its overall shape has been heavily dictated by extensive work carried out in McLaren's wind tunnel and the need to provide sufficient cooling air to the engine compartment at the rear.

The curvy headlamp graphic has clearly been inspired by McLaren's corporate logo and is expected to appear on a facelifted version of the MP4-12C. Stephenson has also paid homage to the F1 in the shape of the air scoop atop the roof.

McLaren describes the P1 as taking much of its "technological and spiritual inspiration from the company's racing division". McLaren boss Ron Dennis says, "The P1 will be the result of 50 years of racing and road car heritage.

--> Twenty years ago we raised the supercar performance bar with the McLaren F1 and our goal with P1 is to redefine it once again."

The new car based around a modified version of the MP4-12C's carbon fibre monocoque with unique front and rear sub-frames supporting an advanced chassis which along with exotic materials to reduce weight is thought to include such state-of-the-art features as active damping and active roll control designed to provide the best possible set-up on both the road and track.

The chassis has been conceived to work in conjunction with an active aerodynamic package that could conceivably allow a reduction in ride height in track mode to lower the car's crucial centre of gravity while increasing downforce provide by a giant diffuser element, the hidden rear wing and what appear to electronically adjustable flaps for the engine bay.
To help smooth air flow underneath the car and reduce heat build up, the exhaust exits directly behind the engine through a large central tailpipe.

The P1 will be assembled alongside the MP4-12C and MP4-12C roadster at McLaren's headquarters in Woking, England.

Nikon's latest camera runs Android

Nikon's newest point-and-shoot camera, the Coolpix S800c, is powered by the Android 2.3 operating system.

STORY HIGHLIGHTS
  • Nikon's new point-and-shoot camera is powered by the Android operating system
  • The touchscreen camera can access the Google Play store and run apps
  • For instant sharing, photographers can use the camera's Wi-Fi or tether it to a smartphone or tablet
*The gulf between smartphones and cameras is getting smaller, thanks to a new point-and-shoot camera from Nikon that's powered by the Android operating system.
The 16-megapixel Coolpix S800c camera, announced Wednesday, will be the first camera running Android on the market when it hits shelves in September.
The addition of Android brings a few much-needed features to the point-and-shoot. Users can download mobile apps from the Google Play store and share images over cellular networks by tethering to a nearby smartphone or tablet.
Pinterest releases new iPad and Android apps
When phone makers first started adding tiny, low-resolution cameras to their devices, the camera industry was not terribly threatened. They had glorious digital SLR cameras with interchangeable lenses, sleek pocket cameras with large sensors and manual controls, and features like high-ISO for low-light shooting, megazoom, and rugged bodies for the outdoors.
Anyone who loved photos would certainly prefer the high-quality shots captured on "real" cameras, right?
But the camera companies underestimated just how important convenience was to consumers, and the public's appetite for sharing photos of moments right when they happened. The resulting cellphone images were low-quality, but nothing a little sepia-filter couldn't fix.
The iPhone was not the first phone to have a camera, but it made sharing images online, over its cellular connection, a snap. In 2011, more than a quarter of photos and videos were captured using a smartphone, according to a study from research company NPD Group. That number is only getting larger.
The $350 Coolpix S800c is bringing some of what has made those smartphones so popular to a camera. It doesn't have a cellular connection, but it does have Wi-Fi. Wireless connections have been around for a while on cameras, but the addition of Android means the camera can tether to a smartphone or tablet running Android when there's no Wi-Fi network handy.
The 3.5-inch touchscreen display gives users access to the Google Play store, where photogs can go to download more apps for their camera, including editing tools and social networks, such as Twitter, Facebook and, of course, Instagram. The camera can also run all the regular smartphone apps, allowing users to send e-mail, browse the Internet, listen to music and play games.
Like Apple's iPod Touch, it draws the line at making phone calls, however.
The camera has 10X zoom, can shoot 1080p video, and includes GPS and maps for tagging images with locations. There are no manual controls. The S800c is running Android 2.3, known as Gingerbread, which is not the most recent version of the operating system.
That Nikon is the first to bring an Android camera to market is a surprise, since competitors Sony and Samsung already make Android devices and were in a better position to combine the two products. Polaroid showed off a demo camera running Android at the Consumer Electronics show in January, the SC1630, but it isn't yet available.
Nikon's Android camera may be a first in the camera industry, but it's still playing catch-up to the real competitors: smartphones with increasingly higher-quality cameras.
